OUR PRAYERS

Your word is truth. Dear Lord, help me seek this truth, that I can receive the words of eternal life. Anchor my life with your promises so that I can in turn share this powerful truth with others. Amen.

Dear Lord, our peace and our strength.

We pray for our nation and the world as we face new uncertainties around coronavirus. Protect the most vulnerable among us, especially all who are currently sick or in isolation. Grant wisdom, patience, and clarity to health care workers, especially as their caring for others puts them at great risk. Guide us as we consider how best to prepare and respond in our families, congregations, workplaces, and communities. Give us courage to face these days not with fear but with compassion, concern, and acts of service, trusting that you abide with us always. And all God’s people said… Amen

Prayer Focus - Pastors

Lord, I pray for all those pastors who preach the word from this pulpit. May your Holy Spirit open their hearts and minds so that they can make proclamation of your forgiving love and grace. Amen

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage –with great patience and careful instruction.”

2 Timothy 4:2

Prayer Focus - Our Congregations

Thank you for the freedom that I have to worship you with a community of believers. Protect the church families; others in our country and around the world from the power of evil. Sustain them with the power of the Holy Spirit so that all may be welcome to worship. Amen

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and the lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has life and breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD. Psalm 150: 3-6

Prayer Focus - Thankfulness & Generosity

Thank you, Lord for your provision. Create in me a heart that is truly thankful. I bless you with my money, time, gifts, and talents. All that I have is yours. Keep my heart open to share without restraint. Amen.

“All who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and prepare the way, so that I may show them the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23

Prayer Focus - Encouragement

Lord God, help me to remember that you are always with me in every season of life. Thank you that your love is a healing balm for my wounds. Give me eyes to see you more and help me to grasp the fact that my struggles are temporary, but your love is forever. Amen.

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful people, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:2-3

Pray For America

"When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?" —Psalms 11:3

I believe our nation is in trouble today, probably more than I've seen in my lifetime. We are contending with issues that are causing the very foundation of our country to crumble. Our moral and spiritual roots are eroding, the economy is misleading, family life is disintegrating, and political forces are at unprecedented odds. There seem to be very few leaders who will take a stand for God and for His Word.

It can be tempting to believe that America has reached a point of no return. While these factors cause despair, we are reminded in Scripture that with God, nothing is impossible. No problem is too great for Him. Seasons of distress and uncertainty and hardship call for faithful, fervent prayer by God's people and remind us of our responsibility to humble ourselves before Almighty God. We cannot expect healing to come to our nation apart from obedience to God through His Holy Word.

God longs for His people to humble themselves and to seek forgiveness and pray for guidance. God's Word says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 33:12). The Bible commands that we repent of our sins and turn to Almighty God. And because we are confident that we serve a God of mercy and compassion, we know that He stands ready to respond to our cries out of the abundance of His divine wisdom.

It is a crucial time for us to individually and collectively seek God's divine intervention for the challenges facing us. We need to pray not only for our nation, but we need to pray for our leaders, for all those who govern us, that they will turn to God with humble hearts and follow Him. Our military leaders need our prayers as we have dedicated men and women serving on battlefields and sacrificing their blood to protect our nation and many innocent people around the world. God is faithful to bless those who turn to Him.

Pray that as a nation we would return to God. As we call on God, let us do so by genuine faith, believing that He hears our prayers. God can heal this great land, for which our forefathers fought and died. We need spiritual renewal, we need a revival in America, and we need each and everyone to pray. Lord, Hear Our Cry! —Franklin Graham
