Christmas Blessing

Centuries ago God chose to give creation a very special blessing. This blessing would come in the form of a baby. The child, Jesus, was destined to become the Savior of the world.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)

Blessing by definition is a favor or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness. It is this simple act of God which still captures the anticipation and joy of Christmas for me. Our hope for each day is anchored in this extravagant action of God.

So how can we share this blessing of Christmas with others? In October the St. Paul’s family joined the Bless Minnesota movement. I believe this is a real practical way for us to share God’s unconditional blessing with others. Bless Minnesota is a prayer evangelism movement which encourages people to adopt their streets, schools, businesses etc. in prayer. By praying for one another and the streets we live on we place a spiritual blessing over our communities. This action on our behalf is a simple way we can share the Christmas blessing from God.

“This much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someone prays on earth.” Max Lucado

What better blessing could we possibly give than to pray for those who live on our streets and work next to us every day? This spirit of prayer can and will transform our communities, our state and even our country. However, the movement starts with you. Your willingness to pray is how God will reach down out of Heaven and continue to bless those who act on His behalf. My hope is that all of us will capture the passion of how we can be transforming agents in our communities.

My dear friends of St. Paul’s, I would like to give you a special blessing for Christmas. I feel so strongly about the Bless Minnesota movement that the Lord has moved me to do something big this Christmas. I am adopting you, the entire congregation in prayer. On two Mondays December 8 and 15, I am setting aside time to pray over our entire church family. My intention is to take the membership directory and simply go through the whole list of families we have. If you have some special concerns that you would like me to pray for please leave me a note on Sunday or call me. My cell phone number is (763) 226-1115. You see I believe in the transforming power of prayer and that it can change lives. This Christmas I want God to reach down out of Heaven and bless our congregation in a very special way.

Christmas should be exciting and it can also be life-giving. May the blessing of Christmas transform your lives.

You prayer partner,

Pastor Gorden

“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
