Haiti Mission

St. Paul's supports Pastor Widelson's orphanage of about forty five children in Haiti with a gift of $1500 each month from this congregations generous support!

Haiti Mission Update

The Mission Committee would like to thank you for your continued support of Pastor Widelson and his orphanage in Haiti. Once again this congregations generosity has enabled us to send our monthly support direct to Pastor Widelson. This past month we have also received and sent other donations for specific items, like a scholarship for Pastor Widelson's son Enelson, money to help pay for Pastor Widelson's daughter's wedding, and money for other specific Haiti projects.

Pastor Widelson's oldest daughter Martha was married to a young man from their congregation on February 4th, 2012. Pastor Widelson reports that the wedding went well and Martha sends her thank you to our congregation for our monetary wedding gift.

The next trip from St. Paul's to Haiti is tentatively scheduled for November 2012, and will likely consist of medical clinics as well as other non-medical activities. If you have any interest in this trip, or are wondering if you have any skills that can be put to use in Haiti, please contact a member of the Mission Committee.

* Our last trip to Haiti took place in November 2011.  Please see the trip summary on the bulletin board at church for more details.

* Pastor Widelson's long term goals include getting a school bus from the USA, expanding his church building, and eventually adding a second story to his house/orphanage.  If you happen to have a spare school bus dinging around, please contact us!

The number one goal of our Haiti mission has always been to provide support for the children of Pastor Widelson's orphanage.  Without this orphanage, many of the children would be starving on the streets of Port Au Prince.  Pastor Widelson and his family not only provide daily basic needs for the children, but also make sure that they all attend school and participate in his church.

Time and Talent

The Mission Commission updates the congregation on our Haiti Mission on the 4th Sunday of the month during Sunday Worship.  At this time, a monthly offering is collected for the children of Pastor Widelson's orphanage.

Interested in learning more about our Haiti mission?  Then please feel free to attend our next meeting, which takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, 6:30 pm, at St. Paul's.

St. Paul's members usually visit  the orphanage in Haiti once per year, with each traveler paying their own way. Haiti trip members typically include: nurses, medical professionals, computer professionals, photographers, and all around helpers.

In addition to the monthly support we send for the orphans, we have also sent infrequent tuition assistance for the older orphans and Pastor Widelson's own children as well as other support for Pastor Widelson's growing nursing school.
